Deputy manager TOI dies in road accident, cremated in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: Hundreds of people from all walks of life today bid a tearful adieu to the Deputy Manager in Jalandhar office of Times of India Newspaper Mr. Gaurav Khanna (31), who passed away after a fatal road accident here on Saturday late evening. He is survived by his father, mother, wife and sister.

Mr. Khanna was cremated here at Maqsoodan Road crematorium, where his mortal remains were consigned to the flames by his father Mr. Baldev Khanna, a retired AO in New India Insurance, amidst heart rendering scenes. A sea of humanity assembled at the cremation ground to attend the cremation.

It may be recalled that Mr. Khanna’s scooter was hit by a vehicle on the Railway Over Bridge at Maqsoodan, while he was returning back from his office on Saturday late evening. After the accident he was rushed to the Sacred Heart Hospital and local Civil Hospital where he was declared dead.

Meanwhile deeply mourning the sad demise of late Mr. Khanna, the Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. KD Bhandari shared his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family. He said that death of Mr. Khanna in his prime youth was an irreparable loss for the entire family. Mr. Bhandari prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this huge loss in this hour of crisis.

On the occasion senior journalists from various newspapers also paid tributes to the departed soul.
