BATHINDA; In what may be termed as significant political development, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has been keeping distance from controversial Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. He was not invited to attend the function held for laying foundations tone of six national highway projects chaired by Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari.

This is for the second time in a week's time that Majithia was ignored by Badal family particularly at functions where BJP leaders are in presence. Earlier, Majithia was absent from Maghi Mela function on January 14 at Mukatsar where Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma was invited.

The sources said that due to presence of Gadkari at Bathinda function, Majithia was told to stay away from the function. It may be mentioned here that BJP had already asked for Majithia's resignation after he was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate, Jalandhar, in connection with the multi-crore drug racket probe.
