Capt Amarinder blames SAD, BJP for drug menace in Punjab

AMRITSAR: Member Parliament and former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today lashed out at SAD and BJP for ruining Punjab and spreading drug menace in the state. He dared BJP President to withdraw support from Akali Dal and then hold anti-drug rally.

While addressing a well attended Lalkar rally against drugs here today Captain Amarinder said that BJP was playing double game. On one hand BJP was trying to win sympathy of people by raising the issue of drugs and on the other hand they are extending full support to SAD. He said that BJP had supported the no-confidence motion against Badal government in the Vidhan Sabha and outside the house they are demanding resignation of Bikram Singh Majithia.

He louded the role of Border Security Force(BSF) in checking smuggling of drugs on international border and flayed SAD for holding dharnas against BSF. He described it anti-national activity. He said that SAD leaders were involved in the drug smuggling and police was protecting them. He said that police action against drug consumers was unwarranted. He said that drug addicts needed medical care but they were sent to jails.

He said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had closed his eyes and ears to the problem of drugs and trying to pose him innocent. He said that Badal had given clean chit to Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia without allowing law to take its own course.

Sunil Jakhar leader of CLP said that Congress MLAs from Punjab would hold dharna in Delhi against drug problem in Punjab, He said that BJP was equally responsible for drug absue in Punjab while SAD leaders are giving protec tion to drug smugglers. He flayed BJP for transfer of ED officer Niranjan Singh Investigation officer in the synthetic drug racket.

As many as 70 Congress leaders including MPs and 30 MLA of Congress and 15 DCC presidents atteded the rally. Prominant among them are former Union Minister Manish tewari, Kewal Dhilon, Aruna Chaudary,LaL Singh, Gurkirat kotli,Harbans Kaur Dhullu, Charanjit Singh Channi,Rana Gurjit Singh, Sham Sundar Sharma, Sukh Sarkaria, Kewal Dhillon,Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Gurbachan Singh Boparai, O P Soni, Raninder Singh (Captain's Son), Bibi Parneet Kaur, Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Avtar Henary, Ashwani Sekhri, Raminder Sukhi,Raj Kumar Verka, Jagmohan Singh Kang, Sukhjinder randhawa, Balbir Sidhu, Charanjit Channi, karan kaur brar, rana Gurmeet Sodhi, Parminder pinky and Joginder singh Panjgarai.
