Faridkot Civil Surgeon arrested red handed accepting bribe

FARIDKOT: Punjab Vigilance Bureau sleuths have arrested Dr. Balbir Singh Sahota Civil Surgeon of Faridkot while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a pharmacist.

According to Vigilance Bureau civil surgeon had demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 from Jagseer Ram pharmacist at Community Helath center in Muktsar for bailing out in a departmental inquiry. Jagseer was facing inquiry in case of death of a child in a private hospital. The deal was struck at Rs.20,000, according to Bhupinder Singh Sidhu DSP Vigilance at Faridkot.

A case under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered. The accused was arrested in the presence of two government witnesses Raghbir Singh SDO Pollution Control Board and Dharmvir Singh DEO(Elementary) Faridkot.
