Cashless child birth facility at Govt hospitals under Janani Sishu Surakshan Karyakram

SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB: Ensuring safe institutional child birth, the government provides free child birth facility under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) scheme. In Sri Muktsar Shaib district 109 percent of target has been achieved ensuring good health for the beneficiaries mothers and their new born children. The Deputy Commissioner Mr Jaskiran Singh gave this information here today. He was accompanied by the civil surgeon Dr Jagjeevan Lal.

Elaborating the information Deputy Commissioner Mr Jaskiran Singh stated that the scheme provided cashless child birth facility in government hospitals. The expecting mother is brought free of cost on 108 ambulance to the hospital and after child birth, the mother and baby is delivered back home through the same ambulance. Similarly, during delivery too, the patient is provided free medicines, operation, blood etc. For normal delivery the patient stays at hospital for three days and the Caesarean delivery patients stay at hospital for seven days. During their stay in hospital they are provided free nutritious food. He appealed people to opt for institutional delivery as it ensures good health of mother and baby.

Civil surgeon Dr Jagjeevan Lal stated that till January 2015 the target of deliveries was 5400 against which 5875 deliveries were conducted increasing the target by 109 percent. He added that this facility is available at the district hospital Sri Muktsar Sahib, sub divisional hospital Malout and Gidderbaha, civil hospital Badal, CHC Chak Sherewala, Bariwala, Doda, Lambi, Sarawan Bodla, PHC Kaniawali, Thandewala, Mallan, Badhia, Gurusar Madhir, Singhewala, Alamwala and Panniwala.
