EC announces Dhuri bypoll on April 11

CHANDIGARH: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for Dhuri assembly bypoll, where voting would take place on April 11.A spokesman for the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer today said that the notification would be issued on March 17 and last date of filing nomination is March 24.

He said that scrutiny of nominations would take place on March 25, whereas last date for withdrawal of candidatures would be March 27.
The polling has been fixed between 0800 hrs and 1700 hrs on April 11 and counting of votes would be held on April 15, he said and added that the election process should be completed before April 18.

He said the commission has decided to use EVMs in the bypoll.The spokesperson added that the model code of conduct has came in force with immediate effect in the district in which or any part of the assembly constituency going for by-election is included. The model code of conduct would be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the state government concerned.


The model code of conduct would also applicable to the union government for the state concerned.
