Food inspector arrested for accepting bribe

BATALA: An Inspector of Food and Civil Supply department was caught red handed by Vigilance Bureau while accepting bribe from a depot holder at Sri Hargobindpur town in this police district today.


According to police, Vinod Kumar Chopra, who was running a government fair price shop at Sri Hargobindpur town, was asked to provide Rs 3 per liter on the sale of kerosene oil by inspector Rajinder Singh and he has demanded Rs 8700 bribe from him who had further informed the vigilance bureau.


A team led by Vigilance SP Baldev Singh and Inspector Gurpal Singh caught inspector Rajinder Singh while accepting bribe of Vinod Kumar Chopra. A case has been registered against him.
