 BSF guns down two Pak heroin smugglers; seize 12 kg, AK-47

JALANDHAR: In the second major haul in as many days, Border Security Force shot dead two Pakistan-based smugglers after a brief encounter in the wee hours today.

Troops seized 12 kg heroin and an AK-47 rifle from their possession. The firefight occurred near Rattan Khurd Border Outpost in Amritsar sector.

The value of the drug haul is said to be Rs 60 crore in the international market. BSF, Punjab Frontier, Inspector General Anil Paliwal here said troops had accomplished the operation with the help of technical equipment after noticing suspicious movement near border security fencing.

Troops had gunned down one Pakistani smuggler yesterday also and had recovered 24 kg heroin in Amritsar sector.
More than 123 kg heroin, with a value of Rs 615 crore in the international market, has been seized by BSF in this year.
