Indian customs seized heroin from Pak goods train

ATTARI(Amritsar): Indian Custom Authority has seized one kilogram heroin (drug) having worth Rs. 5 crore as per the international black market.

Custom Authority here confirming the value of One kilogram heroin Rs. 5 crore said that the empty goods wagons attached to 68 DN goods train arrived at Attari Railway station from Pakistan at around 2:50 PM. During the rummaging of the empty wagons, the Customs Officers detected two packets concealed in the upper side cavities in two of the wagons.

The officers of Customs Preventive Amritsar at Attari Rail recovered these two packets from the cavity of the empty wagon. The packets were opened and an off- white colored powder/granular material suspected to be Heroin, total weighing approximately 1 Kg was recovered. The value of the recovered heroin is Rs. 5 crore approximately in the International market. Customs is also conducting enquiries with the railway personnel. The recovered heroin has been seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 read with NDPS Act, said Commissioner Custom Amritsar Captain Sanjay Gahlot.
